Spring Regatta Sunday 15th April
With the cancellation of the Merlin Rocket Open, the club is running a Spring Regatta in its place.  Four races at 11.00am, 12 noon, 2pm and 3pm and run using Portsmouth Yardstick. 3 races to count.  All boats welcome.

Robin Foster Race
Coming up on Sunday, 8th April is the Robin Foster Race, the origins of which are lost in the mists of time - all that we know is that he was a GP14 sailor who presented a nice trophy to the club.  Start time is 2pm and the winner has to either complete 10 laps or sail for 3 hours - whichever is the shortest.

Merlin Rocket Open Meeting 15th April - CANCELLED
As a result of the low water (currently some 1.4metres below weir level), the Merlin Rocket Open meeting scheduled for 15th April has been cancelled.  It may be replaced by some kind of regatta for club members - watch the website for details.

New Chunky Dory
The General Committee decided in autumn 2011 that chunky dory was beyond economic repair as the plastic of the hull was becoming brittle.  As the club ended up with some funds left over from the grant to purchase the Laser2000s, these funds were used to purchase a new chunky dory for the club.  It is slightly wider than the previous dory which we bought back in the mid 1990s but does have a better seating arrangement which keeps the crews bottom's dry!

Badgers in Boddington Feeder
BW have discovered that a badger sett has been extended into the feeder that collects water up the valley to the north of the reservoir and which comes in under the road bridge in the north east corner.  Presumably, the badgers have extended (without planning permission) as the feeder has not had any water in it for at least 8 months.  Currently, the reservoir level is having to be held at one metre below the weir level so that the poor dears are not flooded out of their new home!  BW plan to carry out work to divert the feeder around the new 'des res'  so that when (or perhaps if) it rains, the reservoir can fill up - BW want the water as much as we do!

Planning Application for Wind Farm at Boddington
The planning application for the erection of a single wind turbine on land to the north of Boddington reservoir has been approved by Daventry DC and construction is expected to start later this year.

More details of this proposal can be found at www.pfr.co.uk/boddington as well as on the Daventry DC site.

British Waterways to become a charity
14th October 2010
The Government has announced the biggest shake up of England and Wales' canals and rivers since nationalisation in 1948. The plan is to move the waterways out of state control and into a new independent national charity by April 2012. Details.
