The race ends when either 10 laps have been completed or 3 hours have elapsed: in recent years it has normally been the later as it has been sailed in light winds.
This year's winners, Robert & Alice Gallimore, nearly lost in the last few yards when the helm became involved in a conversation with a spectator some 50 yards from the line and partially capsized his Lark. Luckily he managed to keep things upright and crept the last few yards over the line.
