CLUB FACILITIES

We operate on a self help basis and a lot of the facilities have been built and are maintained by the members.  This means that we have built up over many years an excellent clubhouse and facilities on site to which members have access at all times.

The Clubhouse has:

  • a fully equipped bar which is open every Sunday from March to December, with bottled beer and lager available as well as a range of other drinks;
  • a balcony area running along the front of the clubhouse on which members and their guests can watch the sailing in comfort while enjoying a drink or a picnic;
  • ample seating, both inside the clubhouse and outside on picnic tables on the balcony and lawns;
  • a large kitchen area (aka galley) where you can make a hot drink on a cold day;
  • tea and cake is available at around 3.30 each Sunday in the racing season;
  • heated & carpeted changing rooms with hot showers and toilet facilities;
  • enough space to hold dances and other social activity;
  • central heating to take the chill off even the coldest days.
  • WiFi coverage (and a couple of RJ45 sockets)

The Boatpark and grounds have:

  • floating pontoons: no need to ever get your feet wet again! At present the pontoons are partly low-maintenance plastic sections and some wooden sections;
  • ample parking for dinghies;
  • a power winch to retrieve the powerboats and heavier dinghies;
  • roadways to make moving your boat and trolley back to its berth easy;
  • the 'Commodore's Lawn': a grassy area ideal for rigging;
  • slipways to allow boat launch at any state of reservoir level;
  • a sand pit and play area for younger children;
  • a number of benches by the waterside for those who just want to relax and watch others sailing;
  • a gas barbecue and two charcoal barbecues available for those who want to char meat and relax by the water on hot summer days;
  • a 'Training Cabin' to support those on courses and keep them separate from other members, allowing both groups to enjoy the facilities to the maximum;
  • limited WiFi coverage (the trees can interfere with reception);
  • extensive car parking space.

Remember — you can sail at any time (except on days when there are Open Meetings or Working Parties).  Even if you do not want to sail, the club provides an excellent base for an interesting walk around the reservoir to watch the birds, anglers and other wildlife.  There are a number of Sites of Scientific Interest around the reservoir.

Why not pay us a visit
and see for yourself?
