Regional
Final
The East
Midlands final was held at Notts County Sailing Club on Saturday May 30th,
with Joshua East and Richard Kelsall representing Banbury.
Josh
was competing with four others in the 8 to 12 group, and Rich with three
others in the 13 to 16 group.
Josh
and Rich drove really well, but unfamiliarity with a 50hp 4.7m centre
console RIB meant there was a steep learning curve! There was also some
experienced, well-practised competition.
Unfortunately
we won't be going to Southampton this year.
A fuller
report will be found in the member's area.

The Concept
The RYA (Royal Yachting Association), through its affiliated clubs, organisations
and training centres, is running a National Championship in Rigid Inflatable
Boats (RIBs) for juniors/youths. There will be sixteen Regional Finals
and a National Final to be held at the Southampton
International Boat Show on 21st September 2008.
There are two age groups 8–12 and 13–16. This is the age of the entrant
at the time of the national final: for the 8–12 year olds, the competitor
should not have had their 13th birthday before 22nd September
2008, and in the 13–16 year old section they should not
have had their 17th birthday before 22nd September 2008. The competition
is open to both boys and girls, each will be representing their club.
There is a competent adult, attached to a safety lanyard in the boat at
all times.
National Final
The National Final will be held at Southampton International Boat Show
on Sunday, 21st September 2008 in the RYA demonstration area. The RYA
will organise and co-ordinate all aspects of the Final.
