Work Party Review and Pontoon Launching Party 27th February

Around 65 members turned up to the work party, despite the strong winds and undertook a long list of jobs including finishing the fitting of the balustrades to the decking area, tree cropping, road laying and of course pontoon building. We got a long way with all the jobs, but the pontoon building took longer than anticipated. The upshot is that the new pontoons were not launched and we need volunteers for Saturday

Midland Optimist Training - Banbury leg Review

On 21st November the Midland Optimist Training session was hosted at Banbury Sailing Club. Over 20 youth sailors braved the strong winds and bitter wind - and were rewarded with some excellent coaching on strong wind sailing, something we haven't had for the fleet for some time. The sailors, of course, coped with the conditions almost effortlessly and were welcomed back to the clubhouse after each session with Hot Chocolate, which lifted the

    CVDRA Event Review

BSC were once again honoured to host the final event of the Classic and Vintage Dinghy Racing Association series. earlier this month. It was great to see so many classics sailing on our lake and we are led to believe this was the biggest inland water turn-out of boats of all the events this year. There was some very close racing, along with a few thrills and spills as the new photographs

    Youth Sailing Achievements

Over the last few weekends, a few of our Youth sailors have been sailing at national events and we're delighted to report their success. At the National Schools Sailing Association regatta, Held at Rutland Water, one of our sailors won first place and the Surrey Cup in a Standard Laser, winning five out of the nine races, they sailed excellently in some challenging conditions. Another Banbury Sailor was absolutely thrilled to be

    Robin Foster Race Results

The Robin Foster was competed for last Sunday, with 13 competitors "enjoying" all that the weather could throw at them - No wind, rain, then a strong breeze and big wind shifts. 9 finished in total and the overall winner was Tim Bury and Pat Kuenzler in their Merlin rocket, closely followed by Dave Cornish's Solo and Ed Slack's Laser. After 3 hours of racing, there was less than 30 seconds between these 3 boats!
