Youth Sailing 2023

Youth sailing will be on Sunday mornings (0930hrs 1300hrs), starting on Sunday 14h May. There will be seven sessions in the spring/summer, followed by four in late summer/autumn. We will look to extend into late autumn/winter dependent on interest.

What your day will look like:

Training will follow the RYA stage 1-4 and racing syllabus.

0930hrs rigged ready to go

1230hrs - off the water and de-briefs

1300hrs - finish

These are our initial thoughts, however, we can adapt the format to suit sailors requirements.

What can parents do? Can I get involved? How can I help?

We would like to make sure that parents are fully engaged in youth sailing. This will involve helping with rigging/launching as well as helping on the safety boats and in the club.

We will also look to run sailing and powerboat training for parents this will depend on demand.

As well as our regular sessions, there are the following events organised by the NSSCA.

The Northamptonshire Youth Series is a series of open events held at local clubs. Each event consists of race training in the morning, followed by three races in the afternoon. Prizes are awarded for each event and for the series overall. This is a very informal series of events and is ideal for those just getting into racing, as well as serious racers. If you would like to know more about these events, please speak to any of the youth sailing instructors.
