Lets Get Back On The Water

We are delighted to tell you about the sailing opportunities that we can now offer. The details are shown below, but in summary we are starting to run some coached sailing sessions and providing safety cover on some limited occasions - all designed to get as many members as is possible out sailing.  All sailing at BSC must still follow Government Guidelines, so the clubhouse facilities remain limited to the toilet only.  However we are making a safety boat and use of the winch available to members.  These facilities must be used in line with strict cleaning policies. This advice is subject to change so please ensure that you checked the guidelines in the members area of the website prior to using the safety boat. The calendar on the website is also being updated over the next few days, but in summary we are able to offer sailing activities on the following days:

5th July (and all Sundays) - Free Sailing, with safety cover 10am - 2pm.  Safety cover will be provided for recovery and emergencies only and is also subject to members volunteering for this role.  Details of the role / cover that will be provided in the calendar entry on the website.  Volunteers for safety boat should book in using the duty roster when it is on the calendar.

Fridays: Ladies Sailing is planning a return from 10th July but will be on a week by week basis, please contact earlgrey@banburysailing.org.uk for details. As the name suggests this friendly session is aimed at helping ladies to get out on the water.

Saturday: Youth Coaching -We will be running small group coached sessions for those of our Youth Sailors who already have basic sailing skills, starting on the 11th July - spaces are limited so these sessions must pre-booked through the website.

Sunday Afternoons: Adult Coached Sailing from 12 July 2-5pm MUST BE BOOKED THROUGH THE WEBSITE - limited to 5 sailors, plus a coach, this will give you a chance to build your knowledge and experience. 

Sadly, formally organised racing still remains outside of Government Guidelines.  We know that some clubs have started racing, however, we do not feel we have the resources to put in place all the procedures necessary to re-start racing at this time.  Racing remains a focus for the BSC Covid Team and will be put back into the calendar at the earliest opportunity.

I hope you will agree that this next phase to gradually open more areas of the club is very welcome and will give you more opportunity to get back on the water.
