    Wayfarer International Rally 2018

Peter and Liz Bones wrote the following report from their trip to the Wayfarer International Rally on the Norfolk Broads this year. Not long after upgrading my GP to a Wayfarer some 5 years ago, I became aware of the benefits of being a member of the UK Wayfarer Association. I found the Association to be enthusiastic, well organised, helpful, and above all, it had a membership who were and still are, very friendly.

  • A Tribute to Tim Foden

We were very sorry to hear the sad news that Tim had passed away but we are delighted to be able to share "A Celebration of Tim’s Sailing Life". Tim bought his first GP14 sailing dinghy in the early 1970’s and sailed at Draycote in a fleet of about 70 GP’s. Tim’s commitment to major projects was shown when he built his own wooden GP from a kit from Bell’s of Leicester.

    Bill Mansfield Trophy

On Sunday 24th June, the Bill Mansfield Trophy was contested and was won by Tim Bury and Pat Kuenzler in their Merlin. On the day, £50 was donated to Sailability, a charity that supports sailors with disabilities. Banbury Sailing Club is pleased to be able to match this amount so we will send a cheque for £100 to this excellent organisation. The late Bill Mansfield used to successfully sail a Comet at the club, despite losing a leg. His

    Ready for Weymouth?

The BSC trip to Weymouth in 2017 was even bigger than the 2016 excursion. Will 2018 be bigger still? It's a brilliant opportunity to sail from the National Sailing Centre in Portland. We take our own powerboats to provide support and members camp nearby (or park their campers in the boat park). We can't guarantee the weather but we can guarantee lots of fun for sailors and non-sailors of all ages! Login and book

    Topper Traveller comes to Banbury

Saturday 12th May was a busy and enjoyable day for Topper sailors at Banbury. We were delighted to welcome the ITCA Midlands Topper Traveller series to Boddington Reservoir. Our PDO on the day was Graeme Castle and the sailors faced challenging conditions due to the light winds. Two races were completed before a late lunch but the third race had to be abandoned (which we thought was a pity because Matthew Best from Banbury was lying
