Youth Section Newsletter 2023
Youth Sailing 2023
Youth sailing will be on Sunday mornings (0930hrs 1300hrs), starting on Sunday 14h May. There will be seven sessions in the spring/summer, followed by four in late summer/autumn. We will look to extend into late autumn/winter dependent on interest.
What your day will look like:
Training will follow the RYA stage 1-4 and racing syllabus.
0930hrs rigged ready to go
1230hrs - off the water and de-briefs
1300hrs - finish
These are our initial thoughts, however, we can adapt the format to suit sailors requirements.
What can parents do? Can I get involved? How can I help?
We would like to make sure that parents are fully engaged in youth sailing. This will involve helping with rigging/launching as well as helping on the safety boats and in the club.
We will also look to run sailing and powerboat training for parents this will depend on demand.
Sailors Briefing
The sailors briefing for the first session (14th May) will be at the slightly earlier time of 0915hrs, and will cover:
- What to expect from youth sailing
- The calendar
- What do you want from youth sailing this year?
- Sailing and powerboat options for parents
- Safety aspects
- The RYA Sailing Stages
