Open Day - Sunday 28th April 2024
On Sunday 28th September, we will be welcoming prospective new members to come to the Club, meet the members and generally find out what the Club is all about.
No need to book, just turn up any time between 2pm and 4pm on the 28th September. If you want to try sailing, we can take you out on the lake with an experienced sailor to see what it's all about.
What is open day?
The Banbury Sailing Club open day is our chance to show you around our facilities and introduce you to the sport of Sailing. You will have the opportunity to talk to members, instructors and also get the chance to head onto the water in one of our training boats to experience the thrill of sailing! We can also talk to you about the courses we offer all the way from complete novice to experienced racer, there really is something for everyone!
What do I need to bring?
We'd recommend bringing a pair of old trainers, a spare change of clothes and a towel to the open day. It's unlikely you'll end up with little more than a splash or two but the boats can be a little wet when you first step into them. A waterproof pull over is a good option just to keep the worst of the wind off, if you do get cold then just let us know and you can come in for a warm drink from our Galley. One of our experienced sailors will take you out and if the conditions allow you can have a go at steering the boat and explain as much or as little as you like about how the sails work.
Anything else?
If you expect you may need some extra help on the open day or wish to talk to someone about the Sailability group then please do drop an email to support@banburysailing.org.uk and someone will get back to you before the open day. We'll also brief the instructors to let them know of any additional requirements before your arrival to make the experience as smooth as possible.
We look forward to seeing you on the day!
